LED Panel Errors and Warnings have appeared on your Robot Mower

Warnings and panel errors have appeared on your robot mower. This article will cover what each LED indicates and what steps or actions you may need to take.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

The LED on the lock button is flashing red rapidly and/or no input is possible

  • If this is the first time you are booting up your robot mower press the lock button 4 times. This will unlock the robot mower for use, this is indicated by the LED switching off on your lock button.
  • If you have entered in a code prior this will need to be entered before you can access the functionality of the machine. You may have forgotten your passcode, to reset this you will need to read our related article on how to set your pin code at the bottom of this page.

The LED on the working time button is flashing blue and the robot returns to the station

  • The Robot mower may not be within its usual working time. Outside of the daily time, you have set for the mower press the working time button. This should remain blue and the robot will work normally.

The LED for the lift signal is red, this assumes the robot is off the ground

  • Check underneath the robot for any blockages and have this removed.
  • If the LED still remains red after the previous step performs a factory reset on the machine. We have an article on how to factory reset your mower located at the bottom of this article.

The LED is red on the battery indicator with the mower returning to the station

  • The battery is running low and will need to be charged. This will happen even when the robot is within its working time.

  • The robot mower will always return to the docking station when it needs to charge. Once in the docking station, the charging LED above will start to flash, indicating that it has started to charge. Once the battery is full the LED will be constantly lit.

The LED is flashing red on the signal indicator when in its docking station

  • This is perfectly normal as when the robot mower enters its docking station this is deemed as "out of bounds" for the machine. It will then finish its charge and function as normal.

My robot mower is making more noise than usual

You have noticed a difference in the amount of sound that your robot mower is creating. Most of the main causes are easily fixed with a few minor tweaks.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

A damaged blade

  • A damaged blade can cause an increase in noise. Please check your blade for damage or wear. If appropriate change these out by unscrewing them from the blade carrier beneath the product. Then screw in your new blades to the bottom of the carrier.
  • A free pack of blades is supplied in the box of every robot lawnmower. You can purchase more by visiting your specific mower on our spares parts section of the website.

Ensuring screws are tight

  • If the blade looks loose or the screw itself looks like it needs tightening, this may be causing the noise issue. Please have this tightened but remember to still give the blade room to move freely.

The grass is too long for the robot mower to cut

  • Changing the robot mowers cutting height to a higher setting will make cutting the grass more manageable for the mower. Cutting the grass prior with a regular lawnmower to a more suitable height for the robot mower would also help.

Motor failure

  • If your robot mowers motor is failing this can be seen through a slow or stuttering cutting. If this is occurring contact our live chat team through our website.

Dirt trapped under the blade carrier

  • If dirt ends up getting trapped underneath the blade carrier the noise generated will go up considerably. Addressing these concerns is pretty simple and requires the unit to be powered off and placed with its blades facing the sky so you can get a clear view underneath. Please remove the 3 screws holding the blade carrier on then place the blade carrier to one side. Clear any debris or dirt that is necessary and screw the carrier back on.

If you are still having an issue with your product please don't hesitate to reach out to our team via our live chat after performing the above checks.

My robot mower is going round in circles

If you find your robot mower going round in circles, you should check the below solutions to help rectify the problem.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Is there a problem with your garden setup?

One of the most common causes of this issue is a boundary wire or charging station configuration problem. Alternatively, if you've been using a robot mower for a while without issue something may have disturbed your setup.

Here' what to check:

  • The docking station - ensure the docking station is on flat ground, this ensures the robot enters the station smoothly. The station needs to face outward and have a space of 2m to enable the robot to dock.

  • The boundary wire - Fortunately, your charging station identifies if there is an issue with the boundary wire. If you see a flashing light on the back of the station your boundary wire is either broken or disconnected.

    • Inspect the boundary wire around the garden to locate any damage, then repair using the repair kit provided with your robot mower. An article covering this procedure can be accessed by clicking here.

You can check out our Installing the boundary wire and charging station correctly article for information on setting up the docking station and boundary wire.

Tip: If you can't find a break in the boundary wire check it has been correctly attached to the base station.

Is there a build-up of debris under your robot mower?

  • Ensuring that the wheels are free from grass and other debris is essential as it can hinder the movement of the machine. While the machine is turned off, turn the mower over to identify any build-up of debris, checking the wheels closely.

You may be experiencing signal interference

  •  A common reason for signal interference is if a neighbour has a robot mower using the same signal as you. Two separate signals can be used as standard with the machine. Making sure that you use a different one as your neighbour will eliminate any interference. This can be done by pressing either S1 or S2 on the back of your charging station. Please the choose the same one S1 or S2 on the robot mower itself by pressing on the button for it. You will know that this is done correctly as an LED will appear the one you select.

If you are still having an issue with your product after performing the above checks, please don't hesitate to reach out to our team via our live chat.

My robot mower is losing power in the middle of cutting

An issue you may see occur with your product is it seeming to stop and lose power mid-cut. This article will cover what you can do to solve this issue.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Checking fault records on the app

  • If you have the app downloaded and the machine synced up you can check the records of your cuts. This will also display errors and more importantly why they happened.

Checking the location of where the robot mower stopped

  • Lifting and checking where the machine stopped may indicate why it has stopped in the first place. If there is debris in the way of the mower this may cause it to stop or hinder the wheels.

Ensuring there is enough power in the machine

  • If the robot mower is running out of battery mid-cycle it will need to be charged fully. Sometimes after winter once the product has been stored away for so long the battery can go flat. Repeatedly placing the robot mower on and off the charging station every minute or so until the lights indicate charging should resolve the issue. Once this is complete we recommend you do the start-up procedure again. Click here for an article on our start-up procedure.

Ensuring there is power going to the charging station

  • If there is no power going to the charging station then the robot mower will not be charging. Please ensure that there are lights displayed on the station. If no lights are on there may be an issue with the fuse or plug socket. Switching plug sockets and the fuse should restore power. If this does not help please contact our live chat team for assistance.

If you are still having an issue with your product please don't hesitate to reach out to our team via our live chat, after performing the above checks.

Robot mower cut time settings explained

This article covers the confusion you may have over the cut time and how it works.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Setting the cut time

  • It is a very simple process. Once the robot mower is switched on press on one of the four cutting time options seen in the image below.

  • Choosing the right amount of cutting time depends on the size of your garden. The table below displays the size of the garden and how long it should be set to cut for.

Garden sizeCutting time setting recommended
300 m² or less4 hours
400 - 600 m² 6 hours
800 - 1000 m²8 hours
1200 m² or more10 hours

  • From here press the start button when you want your robot mower to go out to cut.

Tip: Once the lawnmower starts on the cycle you set it on it will repeat this at the same time the next day.

FAQs

  • Why does my robot mower go back to the charging station during its cutting time? The cutting time that you set also includes the amount of time it needs to charge. During its cutting time, it will lose power and need to recharge this is all done automatically.
  • My time cutting setting LED is flashing. What does this mean? Nothing to worry about, this is normal as it is just indicating that your mower has completed its cut and is now not going to cut until the next day.

Tip: To change the time cycle you currently have, unlock your machine by entering your pin. Then select the desired time and press start. The time you press start will now be the new start time for your cut cycle.

Issues with connecting your robot mower to WIFI

Connecting and setting this up can sometimes be difficult due to certain issues. We hope this article assists you when connecting up your mower to the WIFI. Ensure that you have the MOWAP application downloaded on either a smartphone or tablet. The app is available on both the app store and google play.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Does your robot mower have the WIFI functionality

  • Some of our robot mower range does not support WIFI connectivity. Please check the manual, product description, and box to see if your product is supported.

Setting up and linking your robot mower to the app

Checking the wifi frequency settings

  • Your WIFI has two settings at home, 2.4ghz and 5ghz. The signal the robot mower uses to connect is 2.4ghz. Your WIFI must be set to this standard otherwise it will not connect.
  • To check what frequency your WIFI is set to please follow these steps:
  1. On your computer/laptop ensure you are connected to the network.
  2. Open the networks panel (the WIFI icon in the bottom right of your taskbar).
  3. Click on properties.
  4. Scroll down on the new tab to where it says properties.
  5. "Network band" will either be 2.4ghz or 5ghz.
  • To change this you will have to enter the settings of your WIFI router. You can find out how to change this through your network provider's website.

Ensuring that your robot mower is within range of your router

  • Ensuring you have both the robot mower and the router very close together will make it much easier to connect. We recommend placing the robot mower directly next to the router to make sure it connects.

Connecting to the mower through direct mode

  • If you are still struggling and the robot will still not connect to the WIFI you can use direct mode. This mode helps you connect to the robot mower without having WIFI connectivity. To do this you must:
  • Press and hold the WIFI button on the mower console pad and then switch on the main power of the mower.
  • Proceed to load up the MOWAP on your device and select direct mode.

  • You will be prompted to enter in a pin, this pin is set to '0000' default as standard.
  • You will now have direct connectivity with your machine.

Tip: If none of the tips have worked in solving your issue please try reinstalling the app. Sometimes a soft fix like this can resolve the issue.

If after performing the above checks you are still having an issue with your product please don't hesitate to reach out to our team via our live chat.

Robot mower remaining in or returning to the charging station

The robot lawnmower not leaving or returning to the charging station indicates one of two things:

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Has the robot mower already completed its cycle?

  • From the first time, you set the robot lawnmower to cut this will be replicated every day at the same time each day. If your robot mower is outside its cycle time it will remain the charging station. You can change this time by setting it off to do a job. Please make sure that the robot mower is fully charged before sending it out as it will just return if charging is needed. If you are still unsure how the cutting times work, please click here.

The battery is low

  • If the battery is low please give it time to gain a full charge. When the robot mower is below 30% battery it will go back to the charging station to charge. The robot mower may do this multiple times during your cutting time. Please allow up to 100 minutes for the robot to fully charge.

If you are still having an issue with your product please don't hesitate to reach out to our team via our live chat after performing the above checks.

Installing the boundary wire and charging station correctly

Making sure that the boundary wire is set up correctly is very important. Incorrect setup can lead to various problems that can affect the robot mower. This article aims to cover everything you need to know when setting this up so no issues arise.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

We have some videos which show visually how you should set up your robot mower. Please click on the video relevant to your model, alternatively we have a written explanation placed below that if your model is not listed.

Setting up the charging station

  1. First, locate an ideal flat area of your lawn to place down the charging station. It has to be clear of all obstacles so that the robot has clear access to be able to dock within it.
  2. Ensure that the placement of the charging station is also in an ideal place for the perimeter to attach to it. Also, make sure that it is near the edge of the lawn.
  3. Then make sure to pin down the station with 4 fixing pegs. Note: only do this once the boundary wire is tucked underneath the docking station, see below for details.

Note: Robot mower will not dock correctly if the station is incorrectly set.

Setting up the boundary wire

  1. Firstly you must decide where the perimeter of the boundary is going to be placed. You need to make sure that there is a 40 cm gap between the edge of your garden and the wire. This is so the robot mower can go up right up to the line while cutting over it and can reach the other side.
  2. Once decided, begin to hammer the line into place using the pegs supplied.
  3. The wire that will be approaching the charging station from the front will be tucked under the station going straight to the back. This will be plugged into the connector in the back of the charging station marked as 'F'. The ends of the wire need to be stripped leaving 10-15 mm of exposed wire and twisted so that they fit into the connector. If there isn't enough bare wire, you will need to use some cable strippers just to expose the wire so it can be attached to the connector.
  4. The other end of the boundary wire loops around and directly plugs into the back of the station into the connector 'B'. Repeat the previous process if the cable needs exposure for the connector.
  5. In front of the station, there needs to be at least 2 meters worth of wire to give the robot mower enough space to get in and out.
  6. Next check that there are no angles in the boundary line which are lower than 120°.
  7. The total length of the wire must not be more than 300m. If there is any surplus wire, it needs to be tucked under the charging station, outside the set boundary, and not rolled up.
  8. Finally, plug in the charging station to the mains. Either S1 or S2 LED light will switch on and indicates all is set up and good to go. If the LED is flashing the boundary is broken at a certain point and the whole setup just needs to checked to see if it is correct.

How to repair your boundary wire

This article hopes to cover the process of repairing the boundary wire for your robot mower if it becomes damaged or snaps.

The process of repair

  • First, locate the break in the circuit and find the connector which will bond the wire back together. This will be found in the original box of your product and as seen in the image below
  • Next, ensure that the end of the wire has 10 -15 mm of exposed wire, if this isn't exposed, please strip the wire until there is a sufficient amount visible.

  • Insert both ends of the wire you are wanting to repair together into the connector, the holes which you insert them into do not matter. The wire can be inserted on the opposite sides to each other making the line continuous.

  • Once both wires have been placed into the connector, use a pair of pliers or a tool that exerts a similar force to the top of the connector. Squeezing this will ensure that a connection is made.

  • The wire will now be connected via the connector, it is watertight and will fix the broken connection.
